Privacy Policy

There Is No Mouse, published by an independent developer in Switzerland under the SwissTropic label. Last updated: 2026-07-22.

The short version

Your gaze, your voice, and everything you dictate are processed on your machine and stay there. The app talks to our servers for two things: checking for updates and validating your license. Neither carries any of your content.

What stays on your machine

Gaze data. Eye tracking comes from the Beam Eye Tracker running locally; the app reads it locally and does not transmit it.
Voice and dictation. Speech is recorded only while you hold the activation key and is transcribed by a model on your machine. Audio and transcripts are not uploaded.
Screen content. Not captured for us, not transmitted.
Conversation logs. If enabled, your dictation history is written to plain text files in your user folder, for you. They are not uploaded, and uninstalling removes them.
Settings. Stored locally in your user folder.

What the app sends, and to whom

Update checks. The app periodically asks our update server for the latest version. Like any web request this reveals your IP address to the server; beta installs also send their invite token.
License activation. When you enter a license key the app sends the key, the email you entered, and a random device identifier to our license server. The device identifier is generated by the app and says nothing about your hardware. This is used to deliver your license and to limit how many devices one key can use.

That is the complete list. The app loads no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind.

What we store on our servers

License records. Your license key, the purchase email, the purchase reference, and the device identifiers the key was activated on, with timestamps.
Server logs. Standard, short-lived request logs (IP address, time, path) for keeping the service running and abusive traffic out.

Payments

Purchases are handled by our merchant of record, Paddle, which acts as the seller and processes your payment details. We do not see or store your card number. Paddle's own privacy policy applies to the checkout.

Email

We use your purchase email to deliver your license key and to answer support requests. We do not send marketing email without your consent, and we do not sell or share your email with anyone.

Your data, your call

This policy is governed by Swiss data protection law (the FADP). To access or delete the data we hold about you (your license record), write to support@thereisnomouse.com from the purchase email. Note that deleting a license record disables the license.

Eye tracking data, specifically

Eye tracking is performed by the separately installed Beam Eye Tracker on your machine. There Is No Mouse reads the live gaze signal locally to move highlights and pick targets. It does not record it, does not build a history of it, and does not transmit it.

Changes

If the app ever gains a feature that sends new kinds of data (for example an optional cloud service), it will be off by default, clearly labeled, and this policy will be updated before the feature ships.
